Marvin Edeas (French Institute of Health and Medical Research, Paris) on ResearchGate - Expertise: Internal Medicine (General Medicine), Oncology, Infectious Diseases
Marvin Edeas (Découvrir la page Researchgate) was rewarded by Sidaction for his work with HIV. Back when the first clinical study on the impact of antiretroviral therapy on hyperlactatemia and lactic acidosis occurred, he was a participant. Six years at the Antoine Béclère Hospital equipped him to study the latency mechanisms of the HIV virus in HIV positive patients, along with the activation factors. At Paris Descartes University, Marvin Edeas pointed out the impact of oxidative stress and co-infections in patients suffering HIV.
Marvin Edeas - Oysters and Peptides Derived from Hydrolysates Modulate Oxidative Stress
Marvin Edeas’ patents had regarding the use of an oyster enzyme hydrolyzate within a composition that modulates oxidative stress and eliminates free radicals. A start-up was launched in order to market the peptide thanks to these patents. He successfully determined two Nrf-2 modulators separated from peptides and proteins, which can activate the antioxidant system of defence. In the US and Europe, Marvin Edeas has filed patents.
Marvin Edeas - Works and Publications
Marvin Edeas’ thesis, defended in the year 1996, revealed the results of oxidative stress in HIV replication in symptomatic and asymptomatic HIV-infected patients. His book released in 2005, "The Health Secrets of Tea", was written for a wide audience. He looks into subjects such as mitochondria, microbiota and chronic diseases in many publications. As well as his own publications, the research undertaken by Marvin Edeas is frequently the focus of articles in the specialist press.
Marvin Edeas - Chair of the French Society (SFA) and International Society of Antioxidants (ISANH) and Founder of the World Mitochondria Society (WMS)
Scientific studies on microbiota and inflammation, cell signalling, Nrf2 transcription factors activation and their significance in various pathologies are at the heart of Marvin Edeas’ work. Specifically, he studies the connection between microbiota and mitochondria. In addition to being committed to their applications in therapeutic and preventive treatments, the SFA encourages the usage of antioxidants in health and nutrition. The French Society of Antioxidants is chaired by him. The SFA, ISANH and Marvin Edeas aim to transfer basic research to real-world applications whether clinical, pharmaceutical, nutritional or cosmetic.
Visiting Professor at the Cochin Institute - Marvin Edeas
Marvin Edeas has been a visiting professor at the Cochin Institute, Paris Descartes University, since the year 2016. He regularly works with INSERM, Paris Descartes University and CNRS in the Department for Development, Reproduction and Cancer. He was chair of the Scientific Committee of the 2016 Targeting Microbiota and Mitochondria Congress, which brought over 400 participants. Marvin Edeas joined a team in charge of inflammation, oxidative stress and cell proliferation.
